Trials 2007

This year our trials consist of a Winter Wheat site, which is looking at 40 varieties and their individual profiles.  We have then taken twenty of those forty varieties and are trying out different strategies in order to continue with the successful work from previous years and developing new ideas in providing disease control and yield increase while cutting input costs.

Because of the interest we have received on our small plot work looking into fungicide versus nutrition we have expanded on that in order to get more precise and valuable answers.  We are repeating the Nutrient delivery system work in order to back up the work done last year and develop some of the strategies and rates to produce more evidence into this technique being successful.  We are providing more information for E. B. Bradshaw and sons Limited on milling varieties and also varieties suitable for ethanol production.
This year we have introduced a new low land site in Cawood, this enables us to compare the varietal response to the strategies, differing soil types and environments.

Our Oilseed Rape site has sixteen different varieties with three of them replicated for seed rate work ranging from 30 seeds per metre squared to 70.  We have also looked at row spacing and 3 different establishment techniques.
