Trials 2006

The 2006 Winter wheat site coninued work on 40 different varieties looking at traits with and without fungicide, alternative fungicide programmes and a variety trial, again to consider milling potential for E. B. Bradshaw and sons Limited.  We also investigated into applying late (T3) application of various nutrients to further the findings of last years trials of half a tonne per hectare yield increase from multimax.  Small plot work was done on a single variety, Consort, to show the economic cross over/interactions between fungicides and nutrition at various rates.

2006 introduced our Nutrient Delivery System, developing new ways of applying nutrition, and potentially fungicide to a crop.  Still on the nutrition side, we took three varieties of Home Saved Seed which was treated in 2005 with various nutrition programmes and re drilled in order to give the plant a head start.  Various seed rates and drill dates were applied to plots of 'Claire'  in order to minimise input and maximise output with the use of establishment.
In addition to the winter wheat was a winter barley site which looked at 9 Varieties and their traits with and without fungicide, comparative fungicide strategies for efficacy, establishment in relation to seed rates and seed dressing looking at emergence and the effect on tillering and yield.
We applied the Nutrient Delivery System to 32 plots, looking at various treatments from Amsul to trace elements to some fungicides and their effect on the crop when applied through a novel application system.

We also looked at oilseed rape with regards to varieties, seed rates and drill dates.
